Bird, Bird, Bird, – Bird is the Word!

by Tim Layton

in Drillbit Art,Giveaways

That’s a song right? I mean, there is a jingle in my head to go along with that line, so somewhere in space and time I’ve been exposed to a song that goes Bird, Bird, Bird, bird is the word… Somebody tell me what it is!

The Votes Are In

And the winner is:

For the Birds

The Bird!

So, as promised, I will be making a cabinet door I have to look just like this and I’ll paint it a color of the winner’s choice! You’ll love the pictures and I’ll show you a great easy method for painting your cabinets!

Tammy, you’re the winner and I know you’re watching, so please contact me by email and I’ll go over color with you and find out where to ship your finished door!

I’ll probably do something with the other two designs as well! I really like them both very much. I actually thought the Flamingo would win! I was a little off… maybe y’all don’t like pink as much as I thought. Maybe I should be giving away a teal tool belt instead to the Pink Toolbelt Giveaway. (I know, I know,  the door isn’t teal, somebody name the color for me)

Thanks to all for playing!

Umm, I wanna say that it was from Grease but I’m not a 100% sure. However, I now have it stuck in my head too! If it gets to the point where it absolutely drives me batty, I’ll watch the movie just to make sure and report back to you…hehehe. Love the cabinet, by the way.

Okay, and that fast I proved myself wrong…it was from Back to the Beach with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello I think. Grease also had one that said, “grease is the word” but it was a whole different tune. I really need to stop watching TV!!!!

Yay! I can’t wait to see the door!

Bird is the word was also made famous by Pee Wee Herman singing it in one of his movies (okay, I just proved that I’m a child of the 80s, huh?).

And, I think the color would be called Tiffany blue. Sigh…that little blue box.

The door is robin’s-egg blue and the bird is a robin!

I’d call it Robin’s egg blue too. Love the bird. Can’t wait to hear how to paint cabinets because in the new 50′s ranch we bought someone put oak cabinets in and once we move in we’ve just got to remedy that pronto. I definitely want to paint them white.

So fun – she is going to love getting one of your special signature pieces. :)
Thanks for featuring my friend, NCJill, yesterday. I am the friend IRL that pulled her tugging and screaming into this blogworld…even though she’s not technically “in” it…she sure is now. :)

My brother sings that song all the time- it was on an episode of Family Guy and my little bro (he’s 16, and much taller than me) LOVES that show. But actually it was by The Trashmen, written in 1963. My family and I had this conversation several months ago due to the fact that my brother kept singing the song, so I googled it. Here’s a link:

You are brilliant and I LOVE this blog. I could spend all day on here- so if you check your stats and see that some crazy IP was logged on for 24 hours, it’ll be me!
