We Have Video!

I’m excited.  We can now offer video on Remodeling Guy! This is a great format that should really bring a new way for you to get helpful ideas, advice, and encouragement!   I hope it helps convey how much I really do love this stuff! If it works, that is…let’s see:

Want to see those again?

This is an amazing bathroom!

Bathroom1

I love the feel of this bathroom!  It’s warm, inviting, and luxurious. I did a bathroom very similar to this in my own home a couple of years ago.  It was beautiful, but if I had it to do over again, I would add more color!  Let’s look at some details.

Simple Trim Details

Bathroom2

This crown molding is super easy because the pieces are so short.  All of the trim work you see here can be done by a complete DIY beginner! Someone with a little more time under their tool belt would also be able to handle the drywall and framing work to create the arches and columns.

Use Multiple Lighting Sources

Bathroom3

By using four different light sources and some great looking fixtures, this design gives the user the opportunity to adjust the lighting to meet various needs.  The lighting, in conjunction with the overall feel of the space, can really be used to create an evironment both relaxing and romantic!

Create Details with Tile

Bathroom4

The use of granite from the counters to create an inlay pattern in the tile really makes this look great!  They’ve also used a trim tile called a “listello” around the top edge of the tub deck.  This one looks like a rope molding.  More tile detail was put into the floors and into the shower wall, which can be seen in the mirror.

I hope you enjoyed the video and pictures!  All of these details can be incorporated into a job of any size and I encourage you to keep them in mind when designing your bathroom remodel.

I’m looking forward to comments from The Crew on this one!  Have a great week!

This is beautiful!! Though we are currently in a rental, I’ve found some ideas for sprucing up our Master Bath without making any permanent changes to the home! Thank you for your wonderful inspiration!

Remodeling Guy,
Loved the video portion. You have such an easy-to-listen-to style of talking. I LOVED the molding and trimwork around the window in that bathroom. So fabulous…but alas, I do not have the fabulous house to match that bathroom. So I must be content with the 1974 style that currently resides within my walls :) But it is fun to get ideas!

Hi! What beautiful bathrooms! I love the post you did about glass tile too. Fabulous. Do you have any ideas where I could find some bathroom layouts/plans? We are planning on putting a bathroom in our basement (we want to finish the entire basement, but start with the bathroom). We have a 2 bathroom house and we have 5 girls. We NEED another bathroom and I want to find a good layout to accomidate a large family. Long counters, an enclosed toilet area, medium to large shower, etc… Do you have any ideas on where I can begin looking? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hey Tim, is Pat really your mom? She’s spot on on this one … you absolutely rock! Love the info you shared, as well as the addition of a multi-media element. Your readers (and — now — viewers … how’s that for gobsmacked?) are going to love the in-depth analysis of what makes a room special, seen through your trained eye. I think that many of us see a room and go “WOW!” without actually seeing the details that get our hearts going pitter-pat.

Another awesome advantage is that — by pointing out the WOW featues — readers can focus on the individual elements with an understanding that they can pick just one mini-project for now (add a lamp OR update a light fixture OR add some trim/molding OR repaint, etc.) and then so another mini project when time and budget allows. The best homes evolve over time, and remodeling/redecorating doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing endeavor.

Cheers,

Victoria

I love the video. What a great idea – you have a very soothing voice too :) . Ok , so tell me more about this “molding” you speak of. You may already have a post on crown molding, but I’ve been afraid to try working with it myself because of the strange cuts you have to make. If you haven’t already done a post on crown molding I’d loooove it if you could give us DIYers a little lesson. Thanks! Love the website.

Mornin’ Tim,
Love the video concept and the girls are right, you have a very soothing voice! Great job! Hubby and I are wanting to redo our tiny powder room and I see the trend toward dark colors, which I like. We have the cheap-white-laminate-on-top-of-pressed-particle- board look. I have seen several opinions on how to paint these and wondered what you would advise? (I did our kitchen and it was a ton of work.) Any tips? Thanks, Tim.
