Pergolas, Trellises: at Blissful Home

in Exteriors

Hey Crew!  Thanks for stopping by! Poke around a little to see if there is anything new to you here at Remodeling Guy today, such as the neat little search feature I added.  That was a great suggestion of  Dandelions and Daydreams, and I’ve already used it myself to find a link I was looking for.  Cool.

If you’re ready to head on out of here, go check out Blissful Home, where I have a post up today about Outdoor Garden Structures. (Isn’t it funny how I capitalize words like that, as-if its a title, or a diety!; a true house lover to the core)

You could follow your house love all day long over at Blissful Home!

Oh, one more thing… If you haven’t already, you can still get in on the Big Tool Giveaway!

I want comments, I LOVE comments, so I’ll do what every man does when he doesn’t know what else to say:  ” So, how’s the weather?”

Mornin’ Tim!
The weather here in NC is very COLD. Blech. Please don’t tell us it is 80 again there, okay!? :) (just kidding)
I will have pictures to send you very soon of our finished powder room. It’s looking purdy and even has some new molding around the mirror (thanks, Rhoda!). Hubby has been awesome and I am so proud of him.
Is that enough comments? :)

The weather here is so not ready for a trellis or pergola or whatever. But I did hear a robin singin outside yesterday. It was 15 degrees last night so I hope he can still sing.=) our garage is 4 feet shorter than the back of the house & I’m knowin’ a pergola is in the works for one day! Kitchen first.

Adding a pergola to our outdoor space made such a huge difference. Great post over there, Tim!

Here in Sicily it’s another wettish, cold day. Back home they are dealing with a few feet of snow so I feel a little bad complaining about wanting warmer weather!
I enjoyed your pergola post over at Blissful Home. I would love to have one covered in wisteria!
Have a great day :)

The weather here in Oregon is rainy…what else could it be? Grey and rainy.

I think the difference between a pergola and trellis is the size. Pergolas are on a much bigger scale than a garden trellis. When you said trellis it made me think of those little lattice work thingies you can buy at the home improvement store. Now a pergola makes me think of something big, requiring a bit of construction.

Trellis: 1.a frame or structure of latticework; lattice.
2. a framework of this kind used as a support for growing vines or plants (definition from Dictionary.com)

Pergola: 1. an arbor formed of horizontal trelliswork supported on columns or posts, over which vines or other plants are trained. (definition from Dictionary.com)

So I guess the difference is that trellises (is that a word?) don’t have columns to hold them up. And pergolas do.

Thanks for a fun word hunt :)

We want to do a pergola in our backyard. Maybe plant some bouganvilla (I have no idea how to spell it) because it reminds us of Mexico where my husband is from. We loved how it cascaded down the sides of the houses down there…so beautiful!

We’re being tricked here today in The Middle of Nowhere. It’s almost 60 degrees (!) and sunny. Lovely day. Now I’m heading over to Blissful Home to swoon over trellises and pergolas!

Thunderstorm-y tomorrow! And in Arkansas, thunderstorms with a high of 71 in February means a good chance for Tornado watches!

How’s the weather there (wherever there is!)?

Those are so nice! I plan on doing some outside remodeling and decorating once I finish up the inside! :) I would love to have a pretty trellis with some beautiful flowers growing up in my yard somewhere.
