Something Tiny To Control

I read a blog the other day, and I can’t remember where it was, but there was a tag-line that went like this: Sometimes I sit and think, Sometimes I just sit.

I thought that was kind of cute and kind of true too! I think a ton. Too much probably. I wonder if that’s a common thread amongst bloggers in general. So much always running through their minds, some of it just overflows onto the screen!

Here is a thought of mine…fresh from the mill:

Remodeling your house can be theraputic in so many ways. I’ve always said that a well concieved environment can really change the way your whole day goes, and as the day goes, so goes the life. But another benefit of a little remodeling is that it gives you something tiny to control.

When you’re a kid, you think it’s all under control. The older you get, the more you realize that you control very little. Much less than most of us would like. Sometimes, having a little control over a positive outcome can work wonders.

Remodeling gives you that tiny thing to control.

You decide on colors, textures, patterns, dimensions, materials, timing, budget, and so much more. You make it happen. You create ideas to solve problems.

When it is done, you can say “look what I did!”      …it’s worth a lot to say that.

I’ll be back later tonight or tomorrow getting in-depth on board-and-batten paneling as the series on interior wood paneling continues. Maybe you’ll chose that as your tiny project to control! I really hope it helps you and makes you happy!

Just got control of my food storage with new shelves from Costco! Boy does it feel good! We had planned to try to build some wooden built-ins but with just $15 more per shelf, I built sturdy metal shelves in a few hours rather than wait months down the line. Sometimes, diy for me involves going to the store myself, unpacking the box myself, following the instructions myself, and GETTING IT DONE myself!
