Great Window Trim and A Cool Heavy Timber Bed

Ever have a day that didn’t turn out as expected? Today was one of those days! I find that taking a look through some of my collection of awesome pictures helps me get my mind re-focused on good things!

Would you like to join me? This picture is from countryliving.com and it has two features I just love, love, love!

Image

First, that incredible bed! I just think it’s so neat to see the ends of those giant timbers they used to build that. A look through some pictures like this might have you looking for a carpenter rather than a furniture store!

Second is the awesome window trim! I love the use of traditional window casing, aprons, and sills… all made out of wood and painted a great accent color. This job uses a piece of trim known as a “back-band” on the outer edge of the casing. Really looks fabulous!

My crazy day today looks like it’s going to roll into tomorrow, but stay tuned a few days… I have a really awesome wood shelf to show you that you can do yourself (it’s so cool!) and I’ll be posting the next post in the current series on Wood Paneling.

Hey RG!
I love that bed. I think you posted that pic before. I love the simplistic rusticness of it all…is that a word? I also love simple window trim. If the hubs and I ever have the opportunity to build our own home I would love to do window trim like that and wide trim for the baseboard as well. You know, like in old homes. Gives the home such charachter I think.
